America is a divided nation. Deeply divided. The political\/ideology divisions that exist today\u00a0started\u00a0a half century ago<\/a>. \u00a0Donald J. Trump is simply the ultimate end to that which was set in motion in 1968.<\/p>\n

Division has gradually made our government institutions\u00a0less effective in resolving important issues,\u00a0 government has become less representative of the people,\u00a0party has become more important\u00a0than country, \u00a0and fabrication has become more important than truth. Party and\u00a0party\u00a0agenda, as determined by the ideologues in power, now drives whatever\u00a0might remain\u00a0of the mythical American \u00a0dream<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Journalists and the press are now under almost daily attack by an administration more concerned with its leader’s own self image <\/a>than with truth. Trump’s methodology is rather common\u00a0to an authoritarian leader<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0He is repeatedly and \u00a0methodically\u00a0denigrating\u00a0the credible media <\/a>to convince the American people\u00a0it presents fake news so\u00a0a large share of the public will summarily dismiss everything it says. Especially\u00a0anything thing negative about him.<\/p>\n

We’re reminded of two\u00a0well known\u00a0phrases, Divide and conquer<\/a> <\/strong><\/em>and United we stand, divided we fall<\/a>. <\/strong><\/em>For the last\u00a0half century there has been an increasing focus on, and shift towards the\u00a0former rather than the later.<\/p>\n

Near absolute power is the sought after crown jewel in politics. The party most effective at \u00a0controlling the machinations of the \u00a0power structure\u00a0reap the reward of almost\u00a0total\u00a0power. Power\u00a0to\u00a0force their agenda and enact law <\/a>enforcing it. Since 1968 the republican party and conservative movement have, by and large, been the party and ideology\u00a0shaping the national political landscape. The result of this was the election of Donald J. Trump to the most powerful office in the land and across the globe. Division provided the results desired by the conservatives and the GOP.<\/p>\n

The Trump presidency exists in a bubble<\/a>, an article in The Washington Post <\/strong><\/em>today highlights the issue of division in our country in the present.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
