The last light has gone out of the world, except
\nThis moonlight lying on the grass like frost
\nBeyond the brink of the tall elm\u2019s shadow.
\nIt is as if everything else had slept
\nMany an age, unforgotten and lost
\nThe men that were, the things done, long ago,
\nAll I have thought; and but the moon and I
\nLive yet and here stand idle over the grave
\nWhere all is buried. Both have liberty
\nTo dream what we could do if we were free
\nTo do some thing we had desired long,
\nThe moon and I. There\u2019s none less free than who
\nDoes nothing and has nothing else to do,
\nBeing free only for what is not to his mind,
\nAnd nothing is to his mind. If every hour
\nLike this one passing that I have spent among
\nThe wiser others when I have forgot
\nTo wonder whether I was free or not,
\nWere piled before me, and not lost behind,
\nAnd I could take and carry them away
\nI should be rich; or if I had the power
\nTo wipe out every one and not again
\nRegret, I should be rich to be so poor.
\nAnd yet I still am half in love with pain,
\nWith what is imperfect, with both tears and mirth,
\nWith things that have an end, with life and earth,
