A lie by any other name or explanation remains a lie.\u00a0Unless you are a Trump surrogate who willingly and without question accepts alternative facts as truth.<\/p>\n

We know Trump is attempting to build an army of supporters and surrogates who will blindly accept his alternative facts simply because\u00a0HE\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>states them. No evidence or proof is necessary. Because he is The Donald anything he claims to be true must be true.<\/p>\n

All hail The Donald who is making\u00a0Make America Great “Again”.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Perhaps it is just me, but I’ll ask anyway. Does anyone else sniff the oder of an American dystopia in the making?<\/p>\n

The Washington Post<\/a> –\u00a0<\/strong>It was a rough night for Jeffrey Lord, CNN\u2019s preeminent surrogate for President Trump.<\/p>\n

During a panel discussion on \u201cAnderson Cooper 360\u201d Monday evening, Lord and seven other commentators discussed the president\u2019s baseless claims that President Barack Obama had wiretapped Trump Tower during the campaign. When the conversation turned to Trump\u2019s credibility,\u00a0Lord\u00a0appeared to be the lone guest unwilling to call the president a liar.<\/p>\n

On an average day, that might have been\u00a0par for the course\u00a0for Lord, who has established himself as a reliable Trump booster since joining CNN<\/a> as a paid analyst in the summer of 2015.<\/p>\n

But Lord\u2019s interlocutors weren\u2019t having it.\u00a0Hours earlier,\u00a0FBI Director James B. Comey had\u00a0snuffed out<\/a> Trump\u2019s wiretapping allegations, testifying under oath that there was \u201cno information\u201d indicating Obama had spied on his campaign. Even Comey was calling Trump a liar, they argued.<\/p>\n

Lord saw it differently, repeating the claim by some Trump backers that he didn\u2019t mean what he said about wiretapping and therefore couldn\u2019t be lying.<\/p>\n

Trump, he said, was speaking \u201cAmericanese\u201d when he tweeted that Obama had orchestrated a \u201cNixon\/Watergate\u201d plot against him. The president\u2019s supporters knew what he meant, but Washington insiders didn\u2019t and blew it out of proportion.<\/p>\n

Cooper and other guests seemed baffled.\u201cWhat you\u2019re arguing then is the FBI and the Justice Department are\u00a0mistaken for taking the president literally because they don\u2019t speak Americanese?\u201d Cooper asked.<\/p>\n

Other guests continued to press the issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole world had a chance to watch this unfold, and it was a direct test of his credibility. And the whole world now knows he lied about it,\u201d former White House aide David Gergen said of Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen it again and again,\u201d Gergen continued. \u201cWhen we have a president who is a congenital liar, it really matters.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lord\u00a0tried to jump back in with an attack on Obama, but Cooper cut him off.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
